My journey to BABE probably started with a "little" documentary entitled "The Business of Being Born". When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I jumped head first into what was expected of me as a pregnant woman. I found an OB/GYN, I began reading "What To Expect When You're Expecting", and I assumed that I would be having a hospital birth with an epidural. Watching this documentary changed my entire perspective on all of this, and I began reading as many books about natural birth that I could get my hands on. Of course, all of these books strongly emphasized how important breastfeeding was and I took it all in.

My daughter was born after a short and intense labor in July 2011. It's true that you feel an overwhelming sense of love and responsibility when they place that baby on your chest. Despite my birth being drug-free, I had some complications that caused me to lose a substantial amount of blood. This may or may not have led to my milk not coming in until day 5. During this time, I leaned heavily on the support system that I had set up during pregnancy, which included good friends who were currently breastfeeding, my birth providers, and also my local chapter of La Leche League.

After the initial rocky start, we were able to breastfeed until shortly after my daughter turned two years old. I'm so thankful to all the people that were there for me and encouraged me when it would have been easy to give up. I hope to be able to help other moms and babies achieve their goals, in whatever way that I am able.

My first encounter with BABE was as a client in November of 2011.  Misti and Leah worked so hard on finding a solution to some very challenging breastfeeding problems.  I will be forever grateful for their help and kindness.

I started working for BABE in April 2015.  Helping moms is a passion of mine, and I love that I have a small part in assisting these moms with their breastfeeding journey.

I am able to work from home, which is such an amazing blessing to my family.  I’m a very busy mom to five boys – three are in school, and my littles are still home with me during the day.  We are very active in baseball, with my oldest even playing in the Little League World Series.  They also participate in tumbling and music lessons. We are very active in our church community and seek to make our faith a priority in all we do, which thankfully fits right in with BABE’s values and mission.
