My breastfeeding journey began as a young mother who experienced breastfeeding challenges from latching difficulties and engorgement, to decreased milk supply after returning to work. These struggles and my desire to work in maternal-child healthcare drove me to pursue my Associates Degree of Nursing at San Jacinto College Central in 1995. That same year I became a Labor and Delivery nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in Houston, Tx. I continued my education and obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 2004. Recognizing the need to further assist mothers after delivery and on the mother baby unit, I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2011.
In 2014, I accepted a position as a Lactation Consultant at Texas Children's Hospital in the Medical Center and have enjoyed counseling and educating mothers on the mother baby unit, NICU and other areas of the hospital.
Breastfeeding nourishes, protects, comforts and creates a lasting bond between mothers and babies. My aim is to provided the support and guidance a mother needs to gain confidence and be able to reach her desired goals.
I am honored to join the BABE group and look forward to assisting families.
